Glenn Ligon is to be honoured as the recipient of the 2025 Lewis Family Art Award at Aspen Art Museum’s ArtCrush Gala, on Friday 1 August. As the 2025 honouree, Ligon joins a distinguished lineage of artists recognised for their critical contributions to the art world. In tandem with the award the museum will present a solo exhibition of his work in winter 2025–2026.
The ArtCrush gala is the largest annual fundraiser for Aspen Art Museum, and a live auction will offer a range of artworks donated by major international artists in support of the Museum’s artistic and educational programmes. This year’s auction will include Ligon’s Stranger Study #46, 2025.
In addition, Ligon will join Thelma Golden in conversation as part of Aspen Art Museum’s AIR festival on Friday 1 August at 11am.
