5.9.25 - Alexandre da Cunha at The Heong Gallery, Downing College, Cambridge

Alexandre da Cunha will appear alongside Chilean artist Francisca Aninat in Revealing (In)visible Times, a two-person exhibition curated by Valentina Gajardo at The Heong Gallery, Downing College, Cambridge.

Through installation, textiles, and reconfigured found objects, the exhibition explores the experience of waiting, inertia, and overlooked durations in the daily lives of often unseen or transient communities. Central to the exhibition is the artists’ shared inquiry into how time materialises: everyday objects and places becoming the physical hosts of ‘lost’ passages of time, transformed into artworks that foreground hidden narratives of care, displacement and labour.

As part of the Visual Enquiries programme at The Heong Gallery, fostering dialogue between academic research and the visual arts, Revealing (In)visible Times is accompanied by a public interdisciplinary symposium on Monday 13 October, featuring contributions from scholars at the University of Cambridge.

An exhibition catalogue featuring an interview with the artists and an essay on Alexandre da Cunha by Mateus Nunes will be published by Langham Press.
