11.2.26 - Lynda Benglis ‘Encounters: Giacometti’ at Barbican Centre, London
Lynda Benglis presents a body of previously unseen works alongside her own selection of sculptures by Alberto Giacometti in Encounters: Giacometti, opening tomorrow at the Barbican Centre, London.
Since the 1960s, Benglis has been celebrated for her free, ecstatic forms that are at once playful and visceral, organic and abstract. Here, for the first time, Benglis’s sculptures are shown in dialogue with works by Alberto Giacometti, one of the most significant European sculptors of the 20th century, known for his distinctive, elongated sculptures which experiment with the human form.
This exhibition is the third in the series Encounters: Giacometti, presented in a new, intimate exhibition space at the Barbican Centre.
