Anya Gallaccio will join artists Mark Dion, Gary Simmons and Yukinori Yanagi in conversation for Afterthoughts: Mining History at Bread & Salt, San Diego this Saturday, 14 March.
Part of a series of conversations to mark the opening of Erratic Fields, the exhibition component of the second chapter of INSITE Commonplaces: The Sedimentary Effect: an ongoing project that examines spiritual, ecological, and architectural microhistories of the Southern California and Baja California region. Decades after creating landmark commissions for INSITE—including Gallaccio’s two 1994 works: an untitled piece located at Centro Escolar Agua Caliente, and Preserve: Maya/Preservación: Maya at the downtown location of the Museum of Contemporary Art, San Diego—the artists will reflect on their earlier projects as well as works in the new exhibition.
For Erratic Fields Gallaccio will present a new iteration of Beautiful Minds, seen most recently in her solo exhibition, Preserve, at Turner Contemporary in Margate as Beautiful Minds... (dene hole) (2015–2024).
