Congratulations to Hurvin Anderson who has been awarded an Honorary Doctorate by the Royal College of Art. A graduate of the RCA, Anderson joined this year’s graduating students for the convocation ceremony at the Royal Festival Hall on Wednesday 30 September.
Conferred by Sir Peter Bazalgette, Pro-Chancellor and Chair of Council at the RCA, this distinction represents the highest recognition the College can bestow upon an individual, celebrating exceptional accomplishments, profound cultural impact, and sustained excellence in creative fields.
Anderson graduated in MA Painting at the RCA in 1998. Earlier this year his work was the subject of a major survey exhibition at Tate Britain (26 March–23 August 2026) and in November a new artwork by Anderson will mark the 10th commission of Art on the Underground's Brixton Mural Programme.
