Dean Sameshima (b. 1971 Torrance, California, US) lives and works in Berlin. Acting as conservator of the fragile narratives of subculture, often the marginalised ones, in his work he collects, accumulates and reworks imagery of queer culture, punk, porn and underground movements, their symbols put into circulation in new, disparate ways.

 

Recent solo exhibitions include Peres Projects, Berlin Gavlak Gallery, Los Angeles, She Works Flexible Gallery, Houston, and Galeria Raquel Ponce, Madrid. Institutional exhibitions include Tacoma Art Museum (touring exhibition), Kunstraum Düsseldorf, Tate Modern, London, and Extra City Center for Contemporary Art, Antwerp. His work is included in the permanent collection of the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles.
